Men’s hoops gets votes, not in AP Top 25

Winning the 2K Sports Classic, including a dominant 77-55 win over Villanova to claim the title, was not enough to put the men’s basketball team in the top 25, although there were some votes for the Crimson Tide.

Alabama received 13 points in the AP’s poll, tied with Marquette and Wichita State. The No. 25 team, San Diego State, had 98 points. There were seven schools in between San Diego State and the three-way tie that included Alabama.

Of the teams ranked in the top 25, Alabama will play four of them. Missouri came in at No. 13, and the Tide will travel to Columbia to meet the Tigers on Jan. 8th.

Ahead of Missouri was Kentucky at No. 8, who will visit Coleman Coliseum on Jan. 22. Finally, Florida came in at No. 7 and will host Alabama on March 2nd.

Out of conference, Alabama will meet the Cincinnati Bearcats, who are No. 22 in this poll, on Dec. 1.

Tennessee received two points in the poll, and Alabama will meet Tennessee on Jan. 26.

For the time being, the Tide will try to make their case for the top 25 with home games against Charleston Southern and Lamar on Nov. 23 and 27, respectively.
